In
1961, seven American astronauts (who collectively became known as the
Mercury Seven, the Original Seven or Astronaut Group 1) were pictured
wearing a trendy style of boots before their trip into space. The boots
were manufactured by Northamptonshire factory 'Hawkins Inc', which was
founded in 1850 by George Thomas Hawkins. Combining the famous factory
name with the historic group gave way to the Hawkins Astronaut
title. The boot style maintained its popularity throughout the '60s and
became part of the iconic uniform for sub-cultural groups like the Mods
and Skinheads.
In
1995, the historic GT Hawkins factory closed its doors after 120 years
of trading leaving many brands developing adaptations of the classic
look. Solovair's Goodyear welted Astronaut boot pays homage to the
original Hawkins style.

Exchanges and Refunds
For your peace of mind, all purchasers are covered by our 'No Quibble' 14 day exchange or refund policy. So in the unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase, it can be returned to us following the steps outlined below. We aim to keep the process as simple as possible.
Returned items must be in their original packaging, unused and all tags attached. You will be responsible for the cost of returning items to us using a recorded delivery service which requires a proof of delivery.
If you return an item for exchange, you will have to pay a repost fee, to have the replacement sent to you.
If you return an item to us that is faulty, which you did not order, or for any other reason that is our fault, we will pay for the cost of the return postage.
To return an item, please phone, 01992 501 616 email us at info@adaptorclothing.com or use the 'contact us' box on the right hand side of our website and you will be issued with an authorisation number. The returns authorisation number must be clearly marked on the outside of the package you send back to us. You must send the item back to us within 7 days of the authorisation number being given to you.
If you return an item that is not in its original condition or the tags have been removed we reserve the right to refuse a refund.
Due to Health and Hygiene reasons we are unable to accept underwear garments unless they are faulty.
